Tottenham to initiate discussions to sign Edmond Tapsoba

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Tottenham met with the representatives of Edmond Tapsoba in London during the weekend to discuss personal terms. And they will be hoping to agree on a fee with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen now, with talks set to kickstart soon.

Apparently, Leverkusen value the player at €30 million and Tottenham are set to initiate talks to sign the player.

The Burkina Faso international has done quite well in the Bundesliga and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham. Spurs need to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer and the 24-year-old could be an ideal fit for them.

The opportunity to play in the Premier League will be an attractive option for the 24-year-old defender and he is likely to be tempted to join Tottenham.

The reported asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of his qualities and the move could look like a bargain in the coming seasons.

Tapsoba has the physicality and technical attributes to thrive in English football and he could be a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons.

Tottenham looked quite poor defensively last season and they ended up conceding 63 goals in 38 league matches.

They will have to improve on that front if they want to get back into the top four and compete in the Champions League once again.

They have appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager and the Australian prefers a free-flowing attacking style of football.

He will need defensive stability on his side in order to execute his style of play and signing quality defenders should be a priority for Tottenham this summer.

Players like Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier were quite impressive last season and Tottenham should aim to bring in upgrades on both players.

Apart from Tapsoba, Tottenham have been linked with players like Micky van de Ven and Gleison Bremer as well.

All three players could prove to be quality acquisitions for the North London club and it remains to be seen whether they can get a deal for Tapsoba across the line.
