Manchester United are very close to signing a new long-term deal with their 25-year-old English forward Marcus Rashford.
According to Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside, Manchester United are all set to pen down a new deal with Marcus Rashford. The 25-year-old’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2024 and the Red Devils have convinced him to sign a new long-term deal.
Rashford has been a part of Manchester United since his childhood days. He has come through the ranks and managed to establish himself as a leader of their attack. The 25-year-old was promoted to their first team back in 2016, and he has not looked back since.
The England international struggled throughout the 2021/22 season. Injuries hampered his progress and he never really got going. But after a disappointing season, Rashford managed to bounce back.
He managed to find the back of the net on 30 occasions in his 56 outings in all competitions during the 2022/23 season. The 25-year-old also contributed with 11 assists. When Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in January, Rashford took responsibility and became the leader of their attack.
On the back of an impressive season, a lot of clubs started keeping an eye on the England international whose current contract is valid until the summer of 2024. With just a year left in his deal, quite a few clubs have started making their presence felt.
Romano on Rashford’s new deal, “I can confirm that Marcus Rashford is really close to signing new long term deal at United, though when it’ll be announced is up to the club. It’s technically not done yet, some details have to be clarified soon but talks are very advanced.”
“Man United believe this is like a new signing because Rashford was out of contract in 2024 and many top clubs including PSG were keeping close eye on Marcus’ situation.”
Paris Saint-Germain are one of the clubs that are very keen on having him in their ranks. And, they surely have the financial power to lure him to the club. In reality, Rashford could easily fit into the starting XI of any top European club. And if he is a free agent in a year’s time, majority of the clubs will push for him.
Manchester United are well aware of the interest in the 25-year-old’s services. And, since he is their most prized possession, they have been keen on extending his stay at the club for a while now. According to Romano, the Red Devils have done a great job so far and Rashford is very close to signing a new deal.
While it is not a done deal yet, only a few details are yet to be clarified. Once they are taken care of, the England international will put pen to paper. As far as an official announcement is concerned, it will depend on the club. But, it seems Rashford will continue at Manchester United for years to come.
