Aston Villa have received a major blow in their pursuit of the 23-year-old Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.

According to a report by the 90min, Aston Villa are keen on acquiring the services of Ferran Torres. They have been in talks with Barcelona of late and the talks have been progressing well. However, the player is not open to the idea of joining the English club.

Unai Emery has done wonders since taking charge at Villa Park. He has managed to guide them to European football for the next season. With Villa all set to take part in next season’s UEFA Conference League, they are looking to strengthen their squad.

Emery’s men are very close to completing the signing of Pau Torres. The Spanish manager was keen on reinforcing his defence and has managed to convince the Villarreal defender to join him at Villa. With the defence all set, the English club are now keen on bolstering their attack and have their eyes set on Ferran Torres.

They have been in talks with the Catalan giants for a while now. Villa have managed to convince the club over a potential move for the 23-year-old. However, the player is not keen on joining the Birmingham-based club.

Torres joined Barcelona back in the winter of 2022 from Manchester City. But, things haven’t gone according to plan for the Spain international since making the move to the Catalan giants.

He has featured in a total of 71 matches but has only managed to contribute towards 23 goals. He has found the back of the net only on 14 occasions and has assisted his teammates nine times.

As far as the recently concluded season is concerned, the 23-year-old featured in a total of 45 matches but could only manage 10 goal contributions despite being on the pitch for over 1800 minutes.

While his contract at Barcelona runs until the summer of 2027, the Catalan giants are ready to offload him. They are struggling with finances, and selling him would allow them to use those funds to reinforce their squad ahead of next season.

However, the player is not ready to part ways with the club and wants to continue at Barcelona. Villa are keen on having Torres in their ranks but they will have to convince him about their project for the deal to go through.
