Liverpool progress in talks to sign Khephren Thuram

Liverpool are looking to finalise a deal to acquire the services of 22-year-old OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram.

According to Rudy Galetti, Liverpool are keen on having Khephren Thuram in their ranks ahead of next season. The 22-year-old year has made quite a name for himself of late and he is on the radar of multiple clubs across Europe. However, the Merseyside club have made good progress and are close to finalising a deal for the OGC Nice midfielder.

Thuram came through the ranks at Monaco before joining Nice in the summer of 2019. The 22-year-old hasn’t looked back since making the move. He has gone from strength to strength and established himself as a key figure in the French club’s first team.

His performances have attracted a lot of interest and despite having a contract with the club until the summer of 2025, the 22-year-old is expected to be on the move ahead of next season. Even the club is ready to sell but only for the right price.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been interested in the French Under-21 star for a while now. The Merseyside club struggled last season because of an inconsistent midfield. And, they are looking to complete an overhaul in the centre of the park.

Three of their senior players have already left the club and they have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. However, Liverpool are still looking to acquire the services of multiple midfielders. Thuram is one of their transfer targets. And, they have been in talks with OGC Nice for a while now.

Liverpool won’t have any problems from the player’s end. They have verbally agreed on personal terms with the player as he is keen on joining them. With the player ready to make the move, the Merseyside club need to agree on a deal with the French club.

According to Galetti, the talks between the two clubs have been progressing very well. Both clubs are working to reach an agreement on a fee of around €40-45 million. Liverpool are confident about the move and it seems to be a matter of days before there is an official confirmation of the transfer.
