Newcastle United and Aston Villa are interested in acquiring the services of 26-year-old Juventus defender Gleison Bremer.
According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are both interested in having Gleison Bremer in their ranks ahead of next season. The 26-year-old Brazilian has put in some impressive performances for Juventus in his very first season and has attracted a lot of attention of late.
Bremer came into the limelight while playing for Torino. His consistent performances resulted in a move to the Italian giants ahead of the 2022/23 season. The Brazil international has featured in a total of 43 matches in his very first season and has racked up over 3,800 minutes.
He has been a rock in the defence and has also contributed towards six goals. Bremer has managed to establish himself as one of the most important players in the Juventus setup and his performances have resulted in interest from the Premier League.
While his contract with the Old Lady runs until the summer of 2027, there is a belief that an English club can prise him away from Italy given all that is going on in the background. Juventus failed to qualify for the Champions League as they were handed a ten-point deduction by the Italian federation for false accounting.
Juventus at this point in time have no intentions of selling him. But, reports suggest a fee of around €50 million could tempt the Old Lady. With no UCL football for next season, they do have a lot to ponder about financially. And, they could open the doors for the Brazil international’s exit.
Meanwhile, both Newcastle United and Aston Villa are keen on having Bremer in their ranks. Unai Emery is keen on having a new defender in the mix. Aston Villa have been pushing for the signatures of Pau Torres, but they haven’t succeeded yet. As a result, they could shift their focus towards Bremer who could cost just a touch less than the Spanish centre-back.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe is also keen on defensive reinforcement. He wants to strengthen his defensive rotation as they look to be competitive in both the Premier League and the Champions League. Howe is a big admirer of the 26-year-old and would love to have him in their ranks.
With Newcastle United and Aston Villa keen on having Bremer in their ranks, it will be interesting to see if they can prise him away from Juventus.
