Tottenham Hotspur are looking to make a move for 22-year-old Giorgi Mamardashvili as an alternative to David Raya.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a potential move to acquire the services of Giorgi Mamardashvili. While their priority transfer target for the goalkeeping position is David Raya, they have been forced to look for alternatives due to the Spaniard’s £40 million price tag. And Mamardashvili is a player they could push for.
Hugo Lloris has been Tottenham’s number one for quite a few years now. The Frenchman has been at the club for over a decade, and he has been the mainstay of their team. However, his performances have declined of late.
The 36-year-old has struggled with injuries and has failed to be consistent in goal. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has made quite a few errors leading to the goal. And, Spurs believe it is time to replace their skipper.
Even the player is thinking about parting ways with the club that he has been a part of since 2012. Ange Postecoglou, the new Tottenham manager wants to goalkeeping situation sorted as soon as possible.

Both the manager and the club are keen on having Brentford shot-stopper David Raya as Lloris’s replacement. Tottenham have even agreed personal terms with the Spain international. But, Spurs have failed to strike a deal with the Bees.
Brentford want £40 million for their number one and are in no mood to lower the asking price. Meanwhile, Spurs are not ready to meet their asking price and they have started looking for alternatives. While they will still keep trying to lower Raya’s asking price, Tottenham have also shifted a bit of their attention towards 22-year-old Valencia goalkeeper Mamardashvili.
The Georgia international has been doing a great job in goal for the Spanish club in La Liga and has immense potential. While his contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027, Valencia could let him leave for the right price.
Spurs believe the 22-year-old could be a great alternative for Raya. He has all the skill sets to succeed in the Premier League. And given his age, Mamardashvili could be their number one for over a decade.

Tottenham have established contacts with people close to the player. They want to be kept informed about the player’s situation and any potential bidders. While their focus is still on Raya, they could end up pushing for the Georgia international if Brentford do not lower their £40 million asking price.
