Arsenal submitted a club-record bid of £90 million to acquire the services of 24-year-old West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

He wants to have more control in the centre of the park and believes signing someone like Rice can help him be competitive in the league as well as the Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, Rice is keen on joining a bigger club ahead of the next season. He has informed West Ham about his decision and even their chairman David Sullivan said after their triumph in the Europa Conference League that the 24-year-old will be leaving the club.

With the Hammers ready to sell, quite a few clubs are interested in signing the England international. The likes of Chelsea and Manchester City have shown interest in the defensive midfielder’s services. But, they are well behind Arsenal in the race.

The Gunners placed an initial bid of around £80 million a few days back. But, it was instantly rejected by the club. With Arsenal keen on having the 24-year-old in their ranks, they recently put forward an improved bid.

Mikel Arteta’s team offered West Ham a club-record fee of £90 million. The proposal comprised an initial fee of £75 million and another £15 million in add-ons. Despite placing a record bid, Arsenal haven’t tasted success yet.

The Hammers have rejected the bid as they believe their skipper is worth more. While the Gunners have had their second bid rejected, they will be confident of striking a deal with West Ham sooner rather than later.

Arsenal are slowly getting there and will hope that their next bid does it. However, they will have to act as fast as possible given the amount of interest in the 24-year-old’s services from elsewhere.
