Harry Kane reportedly wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer amid strong interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid.

According to Spanish outlet AS (via Sport Witness), Harry Kane has decided that he wants to leave Tottenham this summer. Manchester United are certainly the front-runner if a transfer race unfolds. But the preference of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may render the Red Devils powerless, with Real Madrid also interested in signing the England skipper.

The eighth-place finish in the Premier League means that Tottenham will miss out on European football altogether for the first time in 13 years, making it one of their worst seasons in recent memory. It is chaos off the pitch, too, with the club no closer to appointing Antonio Conte’s permanent successor, with multiple managers rejecting chairman Daniel Levy’s calls.

While times have been testing, Kane has preserved his status as one of, if not the best, strikers in the world, scoring 32 goals in 49 games in all appearances, 30 of which have arrived in the English top-flight, finishing second only to goal-machine Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot chart.

This past season saw the 29-year-old also become both Tottenham and England’s all-time top goal scorer and move into second place for all-time Premier League goals, with Alan Shearer’s record now firmly on his radar.

However, he is still yet to win a major trophy. And with Tottenham going downhill this season, many believe he will seek a move away from north London this summer. Though his boyhood club will not want to lose their star frontman, this is their last chance to cash in on Kane as his contract expires in 2024.

For his part, Kane has continually played down the transfer talk in his recent interviews. But according to the above report, the Englishman has expressed his intent to leave Tottenham if an offer from a Champions League club arrives.

Manchester United are the team most heavily linked with signing Kane, with Erik ten Hag eager to sign an elite No. 9. And they would be willing to pay his reported valuation of around £100 million. However, the north London outfit are determined to resist bolstering their Premier League rivals, the Red Devils.

Real Madrid have also emerged as a potential destination for Kane lately, amid uncertainties over the future of 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema. The Frenchman was expected to extend his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2024. But the Merengues now suspect the veteran is strongly considering a move to the Middle East after receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

Despite Tottenham’s efforts to receive a top-dollar fee for Kane while not selling to a rival side, it will be interesting to see if he is open to a move to Real Madrid, given that he has made no secret of the fact he wants to overtake Shearer as the Premier League’s all-time top scorer.
