Liverpool will have to break the bank and pay €100 million to acquire the services of Inter Milan star midfielder Nicolo Barella.
According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Liverpool are keen on having Nicolo Barella in their ranks. But, they will have to pay a significant amount to acquire his services. The 26-year-old midfielder is amongst the best in the business and there are quite a few clubs after his signatures.
Barella came through the ranks at Cagliari Calcio before joining Inter Milan in the summer of 2019. Initially, Inter acquired him on a season-long loan move. They made it permanent in the following summer on the back of his impressive performances.
The Italian international has gone from strength to strength over the past few seasons. He is one of the most important players in the Inter squad and has put in exceptional performances throughout the season.
The 26-year-old has been involved in 49 matches and has 18 goal contributions to his name. He has been integral to their Champions League run in the current campaign where Inter are all set to square up against Manchester City in the final.
Meanwhile, a lot of clubs are interested in having the Italian international in their ranks. While his contract with the Italian club runs until the summer of 2026, Barella could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window. However, Inter would only let him leave if their asking price of €100 million is met.
Liverpool are one of the club keen on having him. The Merseyside club are very close to completing the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. But, they still need to sign a few more midfielders to complete the much-needed overhaul in the centre of the park.
Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the 26-year-old midfielder. The German manager believes Barella’s arrival could help their cause. He has all the qualities to fit into Klopp’s system and could start from the get-go. However, they will have to break the bank to acquire his services.
While Liverpool do have the financial power to pull off a move worth €100 million, it will be interesting to see if they are willing to go all in for Barella because they still have a few more areas to strengthen over the summer.
