Mikel Arteta handed £200 million Arsenal transfer warchest

Arsenal offer €47 million to sign Chelsea target Riccardo Calafiori, told to pay more.

Arsenal have had an impressive Premier League campaign so far, and the Gunners are set to hand Mikel Arteta a transfer warchest.

Arsenal will be looking to compete at the highest level next season, and they need to bring in the necessary reinforcements in order to compete on all fronts. A report from Football Transfers claims that Mikel Arteta will be handed a transfer warchest of around £200 million in order to strengthen his squad.

The decision regarding the transfer budget was made during a meeting which involved Stan Kroenke, his son Josh, the sporting director Edu Gaspar, and the director of football operations. Arsenal have a talented young squad. But they need to bring in reinforcements this summer.

The Gunners will have to bring in a quality striker to support Gabriel Jesus. So they must look to sign a quality midfield partner for Thomas Partey as well. Arsenal continue to be linked with players like Declan Rice. And it remains to be seen whether they can get a deal done for the West Ham United midfielder.

The England international is highly rated in the Premier League, and he is likely to cost a premium. The £200 million war chest will allow Arteta to sign quality players like Rice this summer. Meanwhile, Arsenal should look to bring in a top-class central defender as well.

The injury to William Saliba recently has derailed Arsenal’s title race. So they must look to add more quality and depth to the squad. If the Gunners can get these three signings across the line, they will be a formidable unit next season, and there is no reason why they cannot challenge for the league title once again and win it eventually.

Arteta has done a phenomenal job since taking over at Arsenal, and he deserves to be backed in the transfer market significantly. The former Arsenal midfielder has proven himself to be a talented young manager.

But it remains to be seen whether he can guide Arsenal to a major trophy next season. The Arsenal owners have been criticised for their lack of spending in recent years. So the decision to back Arteta significantly will come as a refreshing news to the fans.
