Liverpool and Manchester United will have to pay £60 million for 24-year-old Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on having Alexis Mac Allister in their ranks. The 24-year-old has been in sensational form in the ongoing season. And, a lot of clubs are interested in his services.
Mac Allister has been the talk of the town of late. The Argentina international has been a consistent performer both club and country. His performances have not gone unnoticed, and clubs are all set to enter a bidding war for his services in the summer.
The 24-year-old has been a part of the Brighton setup since the summer of 2019. However, he has come into the limelight in the recent past. His heroics in the FIFA World Cup 2022 played a big part in Argentina winning the World Cup. And, his stock has risen significantly since.
Mac Allister has also been a consistent performer for his club in the ongoing season. He has featured in 29 matches and has ten goals and two assists to his name. Brighton are keen on keeping hold of the Argentine international but they are well aware of the fact that he could push for a move in the summer.
The Seagulls are in no real hurry to sell the 24-year-old year as his existing contract runs until the summer of 2025. But, with the amount of interest in his services, they are likely to let him leave for a fee of around £60-70 million.
Mac Allister’s father, Carlos said: “Clubs are starting to call us for Alexis but there are no concrete talks now. “We’ll decide together with Brighton, they deserve respect. We will pick the best project, based on the coach too — it’s not about money.”
Liverpool have not been at their best in the ongoing season. The Merseyside club are fighting for a Champions League spot at this point in time. And, they have already started planning for the summer transfer window. Their main focus is on reinforcing their midfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are keen on signing quite a few midfielders in the summer. While they have dropped their interest in Jude Bellingham, the club have made signing Mac Allister one of their major targets. Klopp believes the 24-year-old could easily slot into their midfield. And, he could surely bolster their squad.
However, the Merseyside club will face competition from Manchester United. Erik ten Hag has done wonders since arriving at the club. They have already won a trophy under the Dutch manager and are still in contention for a few more.
However, Ten Hag believes there is a need to further enhance his midfield to push for major trophies and he identifies Mac Allister as a key transfer target. Brighton value the 24-year-old at around £60-70 million and with two of the biggest clubs in England set to enter a bidding war, they are hopeful of getting a figure close to it.
