Liverpool are keen on signing 24-year-old West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and have already established contact for him.
According to Daily Mirror, as relayed by Paisley Gates, Liverpool are desperate to sign Declan Rice ahead of next season. The Merseyside club have already made discreet inquiries for the West Ham United captain. Rice is going to be a highly sought-after player in the summer, and the Reds have already started their operation to land him at the club.
Rice started off at the Chelsea youth academy. But things did not work out for him at the West London club, and he switched to West Ham. The 24-year-old has been a part of the London outfit since 2013. He has gone through the ranks at the club and established himself as one of their most important players.
The England international’s performances resulted in him being given the captain’s armband. Rice has featured in over 230 matches for the Irons and has been involved in 25 goals. As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 24-year-old has six goal contributions in 37 matches.
While his performances have not been that great in the ongoing season for a struggling West Ham side, Rice has proven himself in the English top flight over the years. As a result, a lot of clubs are keen on signing the 24-year-old whose contract with the Hammers expires in the summer of 2024.
West Ham want to extend Rice’s contract, but the player is not willing to extend his stay. He is looking to join a bigger club in the summer. And, a lot of clubs are willing to push for the £75 million-rated English international.
Liverpool have struggled in the ongoing season because of an inconsistent midfield. The Merseyside club have not been at their best and will enter the summer transfer market in search of reinforcement.
Their German manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on signing multiple midfielders ahead of next season. And, Declan Rice is one of his primary targets. Klopp believes the arrival of the 24-year-old could solve his defensive midfield concerns for the present as well as the future.
