Manchester United want £50 million for Scott McTominay amid Newcastle United interest

Manchester United have placed a £50 million price tag for the services of Scott McTominay amid interest from Newcastle United.

According to Daily Star, Manchester United want £50 million for Scott McTominay, who is on the radar of Newcastle United. He is likely to part ways with the club in the summer. And, the Magpies are keen on having the wantaway 26-year-old in their ranks.

The Scotland international has been a part of Manchester United since his childhood days. He has gone up the ranks at the club and has become an integral part of their first team. However, of late, McTominay has fallen down in the pecking order.

The 26-year-old has featured in 35 matches for the Red Devils in the ongoing season and has four goal contributions. While he has featured in more than 30 matches, McTominay has been on the pitch for just over 1600 minutes.

The Scot has shown his quality in the recent past, scoring four goals during the last international break. The Manchester United midfielder scored twice against Cyprus and Spain. And, he also found the back of the net for Manchester United against Everton recently.

Although McTominay has been a regular starter for the Red Devils in their last four games, he has had discussions with manager Erik ten Hag about his long-term future at Old Trafford. And, he is likely to part ways with the club after the end of the season.

Meanwhile, with Christian Eriksen returning to fitness after a three-month absence and Casemiro available again following suspension, McTominay is expected to drop down the midfield pecking order. And Manchester United will demand around £50 million to part ways with the wantaway 26-year-old.

Newcastle United are one of the clubs willing to bet on the Scotland international. Despite being more of a squad player than a regular starter under ten Hag, McTominay has caught the eye of the Magpies’ boss Eddie Howe. He believes McTominay would be an excellent addition to the team.

Newcastle have been doing well in the ongoing season. They are pushing for a Champions League spot at this point in time and are looking to build a team that can push for the league title next season.
