Arsenal eyeing up summer move for Ridle Baku

Arsenal offer €47 million to sign Chelsea target Riccardo Calafiori, told to pay more.

Premier League leaders Arsenal are interested in signing 24-year-old Bundesliga defender Ridle Baku ahead of next season.

According to SportBILD via SportWitness, Arsenal are keen on signing Ridle Baku ahead of next season. The 24-year-old full-back has been on fire in the ongoing season for VfL Wolfsburg.

His performances have attracted a lot of attention from across Europe. And, the German international is being watched by the Gunners as a potential option for the summer.

Baku has been doing wonders since joining Wolfsburg from Mainz in 2020. The 24-year-old has featured in 105 matches for the German club and has 30 goal contributions. He has found the back of the net on 16 occasions and has 14 assists.

As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the German international has 6 goal involvements in his 29 outings. His attacking attributes have impressed a lot of clubs and they are likely to enter a bidding war for the Wolfsburg defender.

Baku’s ongoing contract at the German club ends in the summer of 2025. But, he could be on his way out in the summer despite not having a release clause in his contract.

A lot of clubs are keen on having the €13 million rated full-back in their ranks. However, he won’t come on the cheap, Wolfsburg might ask a hefty fee for the 24-year-old.

Arsenal are one of the clubs that could go all out for the German full-back. Mikel Arteta is looking for a new right-back and he wants to add a young pacey full-back who can contribute to the attacking third.

While his right-backs have had a decent season, he is fully aware of the fact that there is a need for a new attacking full-back to take his team to the next level.

Baku is someone who fits the bill for Arteta’s side. The 24-year-old is exactly the kind of player the Spanish manager is looking for. His arrival will add depth and give them more attacking power on the right flank.

It will also allow Bukayo Saka to cut inside and form a deadly pair with the German international. However, it won’t be an easy task to land the Wolfsburg defender given the number of clubs that are after him.
