Liverpool rival Arsenal in Jesper Lindstrom pursuit

Liverpool unwilling to pay Romeo Lavia asking price.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Jesper Lindstrom, a target for Arsenal.

Jesper Lindstrom has been in outstanding form for Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt this season. And German journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on signing the 23-year-old midfielder.

Liverpool are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, and the 23-year-old could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for them. Lindstrom can operate as a central midfielder as well as a central attacking midfielder. He will add craft and goals to the Liverpool midfield.

The Reds are set to lose players like Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as free agents. And Jurgen Klopp is under pressure to bring in a quality replacement. The 23-year-old Danish midfielder has nine goals and four assists to his name across all competitions this season and he has the potential to develop into a top-class Premier League midfielder.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can fend off the competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal and secure his services in the coming months. Apparently, the midfielder is realistically valued at €35-40 million, even though the Bundesliga club ideally want €50 million for him. Both clubs have the financial means to afford that and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Arsenal will probably be a more attractive destination right now, given the fact that they are likely to play in the Champions League next season and they are close to winning the Premier League title this year.

On the other hand, Liverpool are in real danger of missing out on Champions League qualification after a disappointing league campaign. Florian Plettenberg claims that the two Premier League clubs have already been in contact with Frankfurt regarding a summer transfer. And the Bundesliga outfit are prepared to let him go if they are asking price of around €50 million is met.

It seems that Frankfurt will have to lower their expectations in order for any transfer to go through. The 23-year-old must look to join the club where he will get regular first-team action. And he is more likely to get starting opportunities at Liverpool, given the fact that they are in need of a number of midfield additions.

Arsenal, on the other hand, already have someone like Martin Odegaard, playing in his role, and the 23-year-old is likely to be a squad option for them. But it will be interesting to see where his head turns to if both Arsenal and Liverpool approach with a bid of around €50 million.
