Manchester United have reportedly agreed on a long-term contract with 27-year-old English international Luke Shaw.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Luke Shaw has committed his long-term future to Manchester United. His current contract was set to expire at the end of next season after the Red Devils triggered a one-year extension in his deal.

Shaw has impressed with his consistent performances under new manager Erik ten Hag. So Manchester United were unsurprisingly keen to reward him for his performances.

The 27-year-old defender joined Manchester United back in 2014 from Southampton, and he has been an important first-team player for them. The English international is entering the peak years of his career and will be hoping to improve further and help Manchester United win major trophies.

Shaw is an indispensable asset for the Red Devils right now, and he is one of the first names on the team sheet. If he can stay injury free, he will continue to be a very important player for Manchester United in the coming seasons. His decision to commit his long-term future to the club will come as a major boost to the dressing room and the fanbase.

Manchester United brought in Tyrell Malacia as an understudy to the English international. And the two players could sort out Manchester United’s left-back department for the foreseeable future. The report from Sky Sports claims that Manchester United hope to agree on a new deal with goalkeeper David de Gea as well.

The 32-year-old Spaniard will be a free agent in the summer. But he has not been able to agree on an extension with the Premier League club yet. Meanwhile, Manchester United should look to bring in a quality replacement for defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka and a reliable central defender to complement the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane at the end of the season.

Shaw will now look to continue his impressive run of form and help Manchester United finish the season strongly. The Red Devils are chasing a top-four finish, and they cannot afford to slip up at this stage of the season.
