Liverpool rival Tottenham in Max Kilman pursuit

Liverpool are all set to battle it out with Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of 25-year-old defender Max Kilman.

Ben Jacobs has told Caught Offside that Liverpool are interested in signing Max Kilman, who has been on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur of late. The Merseyside club have found life difficult in the ongoing season and will look to make quite a few changes ahead of next season.

Despite struggling in the league, the board have backed Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool are expected to help him out with funds in the summer to bring in reinforcements. The Reds will push for quite a few players in the upcoming window. And, Max Kilman is one of their transfer targets ahead of next season.

The 25-year-old joined Wolverhampton Wanderers back in the summer of 2018 when his contract at Maidenhead United expired. He started off with Wolves’ Under-21 team and managed to break into the first team in a short span of time.

Kilman has featured in 94 matches for the Wolves first team. He has been very consistent for them over the past few seasons. His contract at the club ends in the summer of 2026. But, there is the option to extend it by 12 months.

However, amid interest from a lot of English clubs, he could make a move ahead of next season. Wolves will have full control over negotiations given the time left in his existing contract.

In the ongoing season, Kilman has made 28 appearances for his club. He has not missed a single Premier League fixture so far. The 25-year-old has been an important player at the club. But, the fans might have to see him leave amidst interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.

Jurgen Klopp’s main focus will be a midfield revamp. But he will also have to think about signing a centre-back. Joe Gomez has not been able to put in consistent performances. He has been exposed at the back on multiple occasions. And, Klopp is looking to bring in a new defender who can pair up with Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool are eager to sign a left-footed centre-back, and Kilman looks like an ideal fit for the club. However, they will face competition from Tottenham. Antonio Conte is also eager to sign a defender. And, Spurs have had their eyes on the 25-year-old for a while now.
