Newcastle United considering Kieran Tierney move

Newcastle United are interested in signing 25-year-old Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney in the summer.

According to a report by Football Insider, Newcastle United are keen on signing Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney. The Magpies looking for a new full-back in the summer, and they are interested in having the services of the 25-year-old. The Gunners will demand £30 million for the Scotsman.

Newcastle United are pushing for a spot in the Champions League. They are currently fourth in the league with 41 points out of 23 matches. Eddie Howe’s team are likely to finish in the top four and are looking to further strengthen their squad.

Ever since their takeover, Newcastle have done some sensational transfer business. And, they are willing to add a few more players as they look to push for the Premier League title next season. Left-back is a key area of concern, with Antonee Robinson recently emerging as a target. And Kieran Tierney has also popped up on their radar.

Tierney has been a part of the Arsenal setup since the summer of 2019. He started off his career at the youth setup of Celtic and has come through the ranks at the Scottish club. Tierney made a total of 170 appearances for them before joining the Gunners.

Ever since joining the London-based club, he has featured in 112 matches and has been a key part of their team. He was a regular for Mikel Arteta until last season. But, his situation has not been the same in the ongoing season. His injury towards the end of the previous season was a turning point.

Arsenal signed Oleksandr Zinchenko in the summer of 2022. And, ever since the Ukrainian international’s arrival, Tierney has been a bit-part player. Tierney has been a second choice for the league leaders, and the £30 million valued player is looking for a move away from the club. And paying £30 million for the Arsenal defender is an attractive proposition for Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe does have Dan Burn at his disposal. But he wants to add a more attacking option in the summer. The Magpies’ boss is keen on having the Scotland international in his squad ahead of next season. Newcastle have a few other options that they could push for in the summer. But, one thing is certain Howe’s men will go all out for a left-back in the summer.
