Manchester United will have to pay €20 million to sign Marcel Sabitzer permanently

Manchester United can secure the services of 28-year-old midfielder Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent basis for €20 million.

According to Christian Falk via BILD, Manchester United can permanently sign Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich for €20 million. Sabitzer who is currently on loan can join the Red Devils on a permanent basis in the summer of 2023.

The Manchester-based club signed the Bayern Munich midfielder on loan in the January transfer window. Erik ten Hag brought him to Old Trafford in order to cover up for the injured Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen was an integral part of the United setup in the ongoing season. His injury late in January meant United had to enter the market to look for a central midfielder who could help them finish in the top four of the Premier League. The United boss wanted Marcel Sabitzer and the club managed to get him on loan.

It is a simple loan move for six months but United could make it permanent for €20 million ahead of next season. While his contract at Bayern ends in the summer of 2025, they could still let him leave in the summer. The fact that they let him join United in the middle of the season suggests that it won’t be a problem to sign him on a permanent basis. However, it will depend on the amount that the buying club is willing to pay.

The former RB Leipzig skipper joined the German giants back in the summer of 2021. Since his arrival at the club, he has had a few impressive outings but has failed to become a regular. And, a permanent move will surely help the 28-year-old.

In his 3 Premier League outings for the Red Devils, he has been impressive, and given that he is expected to feature in the majority of the matches. He has an opportunity to showcase Erik ten Hag what he can bring to the table.

The Dutch manager is expected to sign a high-profile midfielder in the summer. He might also look to offload Scott McTominay and Fred. If United sell the duo in the summer then signing Sabizter for around £20m would bring them a cover for the high-profile player they are trying to sign. It will allow them to have depth in the midfield and Sabizter will also challenge for a spot in the XI.

Signing the 28-year-old Austrian international can surely be a steal for United. However, it will be interesting to see if they opt to bring him to Old Trafford on a permanent basis on not.
