Tottenham could include Japhet Tanganga plus cash to tempt Inter Milan into doing a deal for midfield target Marcelo Brozovic in the summer.
According to Inter Live via Sport Witness, Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Marcelo Brozovic. Spurs could offer wantaway defender Japhet Tanganga in part exchange for the Croatian midfielder, who has lost his place at the San Siro.
Marcelo Brozovic has been an important player for Inter Milan since signing for the club in 2016. The Croatian was instrumental in their Serie A title win under Antonio Conte during the 2020-21 season. However, he has fallen out of favour owing to injury issues, and Simone Inzaghi is already phasing him out of his long-term plans.
Brozovic suffered from hamstring and calf injuries this season that has seen him miss ten league games. He hasn’t started for Inter Milan in Serie A since 18th September in a loss to Udinese. As he recovered from a hamstring problem, the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan have taken his place in the lineup and made it his own.
Inter Milan only extended Brozovic’s expiring contract back in March 2022, which now runs until 2026. They could sell the 30-year-old Serie A ace if suitable offers arrive. Barcelona saw their name linked with Brozovic in a swap deal involving Franck Kessie in January, but nothing came of it.
The report insists Tottenham plots a move for the Croatian midfielder, who Antonio Conte knows very well. The central midfield position is what the Italian manager wants to reinforce. He could take up signing the experienced 30-year-old Serie A ace.
Tottenham could offer €25 million for the Croatian or €10 million plus Japhet Tanganga in part-exchange. Conte no longer favours the English defender and was even transfer listed in the last two windows. In the summer, he had tremendous interest from Italy, which could remain the case.
If Inter Milan feels Tanganga would improve their squad, they might look further into the reported proposal. If not, they might consider asking for more money from Spurs. As for Brozovic, he could become tempted by a move to the Premier League. He might only consider Tottenham if Conte remains at the club beyond the summer.
Conte is yet to commit to his future at Tottenham as his contract runs out in the summer. There’s optimism he and star striker Harry Kane would remain, and hence there’s the idea of Brozovic arriving. The 30-year-old Serie A ace would make the team stronger for next season as the manager could have a strong presence in the centre of midfield.
