Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in selling their record goalscorer Harry Kane to rivals amidst interest from Manchester United.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Manchester United have received a setback in their pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane. The Red Devils are looking to sign a forward in the summer transfer window and England skipper Kane is on their radar.
The Tottenham striker will have a year left on his contract at the end of the season. The London-based club have made no efforts in extending his contract after his transfer to Manchester City failed in 2021. However, the club is not interested in selling him to any of their rivals in the Premier League.
Harry Kane joined Spurs back in the summer of 2013 from Leicester City. The England international has scored 267 goals in his 416 appearances for the club. He recently became the highest goal scorer in the club’s history after he overtook Jimmy Greaves who scored 266 goals.
In the ongoing season, Kane has scored 19 goals in his 30 appearances. It has been another brilliant Premier League campaign for the 29-year-old who has found the back of the net on 17 occasions in his 22 appearances. He has been a transfer target for quite a few big clubs across Europe but Spurs have kept hold of him for almost a decade now.
As per reports, Spurs will not allow their record goalscorer to join any of their rivals in the summer. While they are planning to make efforts to extend his contract in the final year. However, they will prefer letting him leave as a free agent rather than cashing in on him and allowing him to join a Premier League rival.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure left a massive void at Manchester United. Erik ten Hag’s side were forced to enter the winter window and sign Wout Weghorst on loan. He is likely to return to his parent club in the summer. And, United will once enter the market for a striker but this time they will look for a permanent fix.
Erik ten Hag’s men were interested in signing Harry Kane from Spurs. He was a part of their transfer target list. But, with Spurs unlikely to let go of their starman they will have to look for an alternative. As a result, United will now look to focus on Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos to solve their striker crisis.
