Everton line up eleventh-hour move for Beto

Premier League club Everton are willing to pay €25 million to sign Beto as they look to land a striker on transfer deadline day.

Everton have been looking to acquire a new striker for the past few days. They have had a few unsuccessful attempts to sign different forwards. According to Marco Conterio, Everton have now turned their attention towards Beto and are willing to pay €25 million for his signature.

The Merseyside club are pushing to sign Udinese striker Beto before the window shuts. They want to bolster their attack and add some firepower to survive relegation. After a few unsuccessful attempts across Europe, the Toffees are now looking for an option in Serie A. They have identified the Portuguese striker as a potential signing that can help their cause.

In the ongoing season, Beto has played 20 league matches and has scored seven goals. While he might have scored seven times, none of these have come against the big clubs in Italy. It has not been that great a campaign for the striker. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old can still be a threat for the opposition. And Everton are in desperate need of having a player with such qualities in their ranks.

The Portuguese striker has spent the majority of his senior career in Italy. He has made 48 appearances in the Italian top flight. Meanwhile, the other half of his career has seen him play in Liga Portugal where he has played 44 matches.

Sean Dyche recently took over the charge of relegation-threatened side Everton. He has a tough task ahead of him. The Toffees are currently 19th in the table and are on the verge of getting relegated to the EFL Championship.

Dyche is eager to add a few forwards before the window shuts. The departure of Anthony Gordon has not done him any good. Newcastle United paid £45 million to acquire the Everton forward on Sunday. His transfer meant they have to add a forward at any cost. Without any addition to their attack, survival might be a difficult task.

According to the reports, Everton are interested in Coventry City’s Viktor Gyokeres and Southampton’s Che Adams. It will be interesting to see which forward they ultimately decide to bring on board. For now, they are keen on paying €25 million for Beto.
