Leeds United have agreed on personal terms with Weston McKennie ahead of a move from Juventus.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United and Weston McKennie have agreed on personal terms. A move to Elland Road inches closer for the 24-year-old. The Whites and Juventus are working on getting an agreement, as Jesse Marsch hopes for a conclusion without any late twist.

Weston McKennie’s time at Juventus is coming to a close as he nears a move to the Premier League. Since the beginning of the month, interest from England has been rife. Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Leeds United were all linked with a transfer for the 24-year-old.

There is total unrest in the Juventus camp amid the crisis with the financial mismanagement and the points deduction. They are in danger of missing out on the Champions League next season and may look at disposing of players this month to recoup funds.

McKennie was reportedly put up for sale last summer but could not get a move-out. The Serie A giants could have become receptive to interest from the Premier League, considering they get a reasonable value for the USMNT star.

Leeds United have remained interested, with their manager Jesse Marsh keen on bringing his compatriot to Elland Road. There seems to be an agreement between the club and McKennie over personal terms. A move could conclude in the next few days as the two clubs look to agree on payments and the deal’s structure.

As per reports, Leeds might pay a fee of around €25-30 million for the 24-year-old midfielder. It is a considerable outlay on a player yet to reach his peak and will come in as a long-term option. McKennie is a versatile midfielder who plays in different positions based on the team’s needs.

Marsch will hope a move concludes without any late twists after reports of interest from Arsenal emerged. The Gunners remained in the market for a new midfielder and were previously linked with McKennie. For now, the USMNT star seems on his way to Elland Road.

Leeds will now focus on other targets if they can manage another transfer before the window shuts. With McKennie, they have a wonderful player on their hands, one that would improve their current team and fortunes.
