Erik ten Hag reportedly had a ‘secret’ meeting with Marco Reus’s agent, who was in attendance for the Manchester Derby.

According to the Daily Mail, Marco Reus could emerge as a potential target for Manchester United after some recent developments. His agent was in attendance at Old Trafford during the Manchester Derby, and Erik ten Hag reportedly had a ‘secret’ meeting with the representative.

Manchester United are on an upward curve in terms of their form and table position. After a terrible start to the season under new manager Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils have taken their chances and climbed into third place.

They have beaten Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester City, all at home. Their victory in the Manchester Derby accelerated talks of a potential title challenge. They will face league leaders Arsenal on Sunday, and a win would justify those claims.

They haven’t been as active in the transfer window as some expected them this month. Ten Hag spent significantly in the summer bringing players like Casemiro, Antony, and Lisandro Martinez. That outlay may have considerably restricted the manager’s spending this month. The rebuild could continue next summer.

Ten Hag has eyes on some notable stars in the market, such as Victor Osimhen. Manchester United is still in an early rebuild stage, but the promising signs are evident. The manager may still look for a few moves for experienced players to help the team for the remainder of the season.

Ten Hag did sign Wout Weghorst to shore up his centre-forward department after the premature departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. He could look at similar signings that bring experience to this squad, and now, Marco Reus becomes the player linked with a move.

The Bundesliga star’s agent was present for the Manchester Derby. Ten Hag reportedly held a ‘secret’ meeting with the representative. Reus has entered the final six months of his deal at Borussia Dortmund and is free to hold talks with foreign clubs.

He has spent 11 years in Dortmund and never left Germany. At 33, it may be the last opportunity to join an English side. Playing for Manchester United would be a massive opportunity for the Bundesliga star.

Reus brings tremendous experience to the team and will come in as a ready starter than someone needing an adaptation period. Manchester United have plenty of youngsters in the German’s position who may need help from an experienced star around them.

For now, links with a move to Manchester United may come across as premature. Yet, there’s every chance for his arrival if Dortmund decides to let him leave. The only hurdle would come from his wage demands, as he earns £200,000 per week at the Bundesliga side.
