Tottenham ready to pay Pedro Porro €5 million-a-season

SSC Napoli vs US Lecce: Preview and Prediction as the Serie A leaders look to strengthen their hold on the summit.

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to offer a lucrative contract to Sporting Lisbon right-back Pedro Porro to entice him to North London.

As per Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur are staging a plan to lure Sporting Lisbon defender Pedro Porro to the Premier League. The 23-year-old has been on the top of the list of Antonio Conte in this transfer window.

Spurs have had a pretty inconsistent season as they are currently in a distant fifth position in the English top flight.  A title charge is pretty unrealistic at this crucial juncture but a place in the Champions League is very much possible.

Right back has been an area of concern for the former Inter Milan manager. Conte has alternated between Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty and the latter has been the preferred choice off late.

Royal arrived as a much more promising prospect but he has failed to thrive and the idea is to offload the player to accommodate Porro in the lineup. The Spaniard has been one of the most consistent players on the right side of the defence while he is more comfortable on the right side of the midfield.

A €5 million salary is being proposed by the Premier League outfit and he would further need a transfer fee of €45 million to facilitate a move from Portugal to England.

He was in the fold of Manchester City when the reigning English champions signed him in 2019 but without playing a single match he was sold in 2022. But Tottenham don’t have a clear sight of view as Chelsea are also interested in the player.

The Blues want a cover for Reece James who has had problems with injuries recently. Porro has been a revelation for Ruben Amorim’s side and he could be the perfect attacking-minded wingback that Conte has desired.

Sporting are unwilling to negotiate the €45 million release clause which has been a stumbling block. Talks have taken place but there hasn’t been any solution regarding the final transfer fee. Manchester City might have a sell-on clause inserted into his contract which prompted the club to value the player so highly.
