West Ham United could be interested in a move for Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino in the winter transfer window.

As per journalist Alex Crook, West Ham United could be one of the interested parties to lay their hands on Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino. The player will be a free agent in the summer as he has entered the last six months of his deal.

The Brazilian has been one of the rare shining lights for the Merseysiders, who have endured an otherwise underwhelming season. Liverpool have already lost five matches in the Premier League and the Premier League title charge looks like a distant dream.

Jurgen Klopp further strengthened his attack with the signing of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven a few days ago, and the Dutchman will provide more sharpness to their inconsistent attack.

The arrival of Darwin Nunez has curtailed Firmino’s game time. But the Brazilian has performed pretty decently with seven goals and three assists in 13 top-flight matches.

Nunez has not been able to reach the destined mark as of yet and Firmino could prove to be a very shrewd option for Klopp. A new short-term deal has already been proposed but the striker is yet to give his nod over a possible extension.

Offers from some Saudi Arabian clubs have also popped up. But the 31-year-old is still able to play at his highest level for the next few years. West Ham have struggled to find the net on regular occasions and Firmino could be a massive bet for David Moyes.

His flexibility to play in a number of positions would be an added advantage but it remains to be seen whether the forward would be ready to demote himself from the Champions League as the Hammers won’t be able to offer the player European football going by their current form.

Alex Crook reiterated West Ham should be looking at the player in this transfer window. “I could see Firmino leaving, certainly in the summer, if not this month. I think there will be clubs looking at Firmino maybe West Ham, who need firepower.”

A formal approach is yet to be received by Liverpool. But it is suggested the player is inclined towards extending his stay at Anfield beyond the current campaign.
