Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, a target for Arsenal.

According to a report from Tera Deportes, Liverpool submitted an initial offer to sign Moises Caicedo. But Brighton have turned it down as they want €70 million to part ways with the Ecuadorian midfielder. The Reds are now preparing an improved offer if they want to sign the 21-year-old defensive midfielder, a target for Arsenal.

Caicedo has established himself as one of the best young talents in the Premier League, and it is no surprise that the big clubs like Liverpool are looking to sign him. The Reds are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, especially with the likes of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to leave the club as free agents at the end of the season.

Caicedo would be a superb, long-term investment for Liverpool, and it will be interesting to see if they are prepared to break the bank for his services. Apparently, Brighton value the midfielder at €70 million, and he is a target for clubs like Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Chelsea as well. Tera Deportes have claimed that Arsenal have only enquired about the price. But the other two are more seriously interested.

Liverpool have already signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven to improve their attacking options. And bringing in a player like Caicedo in January could help them finish the season strongly and secure UEFA Champions League qualification.

On the other hand, Arsenal will need to add some depth to their midfield so that Mikel Arteta can rotate the likes of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. Caicedo would be a quality addition. As far as Newcastle United are concerned, Jonjo Shelvey is sidelined with an injury, and Eddie Howe is looking to bring in an alternative.

Caicedo seems like the ideal partner for Bruno Guimaraes, at the heart of the Newcastle midfield. And the Magpies certainly have the finances to pay the €70 million asking price as well. The 21-year-old will probably want to join a big club and play in the Champions League.

A move to Liverpool could be an attractive option for the player, and the opportunity to work with Jurgen Klopp could prove to be tempting. The Liverpool manager has helped improve several young players throughout the course of his managerial career and could have a positive impact on the development of Caicedo. Klopp could help the 21-year-old improve further and fulfil his tremendous potential.
