West Ham United in talks to sign Sasa Lukic

West Ham set to hold talks to sign Yuri Alberto.

West Ham United are reportedly locked in transfer negotiations with Torino for Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic.

According to Tuttosport, West Ham United are in discussions with Torino to find a deal for Sasa Lukic in the January transfer window. The Hammers are looking to bolster their midfield options ahead of a busy second half of the season.

West Ham United are yet to be dragged into the relegation battle. But they suffered a severe jolt following their loss at the hands of Arsenal in their first Premier League game after the brief World Cup break.

David Moyes does not want to tarnish his club’s image and will be using the January transfer window to bolster his midfield. Torino have already made it clear they are willing to do business. But the offer should be around €15 million for the Serie A outfit to sell the Serbian midfielder.

The Serbian international’s current contract with the Serie A club will be expiring in 2024. And Torino’s inability to reach a fresh agreement led them to consider a sale in January, as his stock could further nosedive next summer.

Leicester City wanted to take advantage of the Serie A club’s interest in Dennis Praet and offered a straight swap deal between the two players. But their offer has already been rebuffed by Torino, and it remains to be seen if they come back with a better offer.

For West Ham, Tomas Soucek has not had that impact in the middle of the pitch. And Moyes feels he needs to freshen up his midfield. Lukic impressed with his ability on the ball at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. And despite being a central midfielder, he can be deployed in a number of positions in the middle of the pitch.

The London giants loaned Nikola Vlasic to Torino in the summer. And the Croatian international’s ravishing form could be used in the negotiations. West Ham recently submitted an enquiry for Lukic. And they could offer a meagre amount plus Vlasic to pave a way for Lukic to move to the London Stadium.

AS Roma and Napoli are also avid admirers of the 26-year-old. But West Ham are said to have definite leverage in the move. Lukic could be a shrewd addition given the Premier League outfit’s recent struggles on the pitch. And the midfielder could be one of the many arrivals at the club next month. It will be interesting to see if West Ham offer €15 million to sign the Serb.
