Liverpool in pole position to sign Hirving Lozano

Liverpool are in pole position to secure a move for Napoli winger Hirving Lozano in the January transfer window.

According to Calciomercato, Hirving Lozano is destined to leave Napoli for Liverpool as the Mexican winger has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Lozano’s current contract will expire in 2024 and the Italian side will explore more options regarding his current contract. He has been on the periphery of the first team and his value has also gone down leaving the club in a spot of bother.

Liverpool signed Luis Diaz last January and the Colombian winger turned out to be one of the best winter signings in history as he bailed them out on numerous occasions.

But the forward has been ruled out for an elongated period and Lozano could emerge to be their savior. The Mexican winger hasn’t had rare occasions to celebrate a goal and he also didn’t have an overwhelming World Cup.

But Jurgen Klopp has been a long-term admirer of the player and he might try to invade the Italian giants in an order to get a deal done. Given the current circumstances, he won’t cost much and could be a perfect backup option for the Reds.

Darwin Nunez hasn’t been firing in regular intervals and they might need other players to chip in goals. Sadio Mane’s absence has been felt pretty dearly and Lozano could appear to be more than a squad player as it seems.

Napoli would have to find a replacement before sanctioning his departure and even Jurgen Klopp insisted they need new players in January.

“Last season we had Luis Diaz come in, which was very helpful for that part of the season, everybody would see that the same way.

“But doing something again that is very positive – why not?”

Napoli thrashed Liverpool 4-1 in the Champions League and the Premier League giants blanked them 2-0 in the reverse fixture. The Reds have also been linked with another Napoli player Eljef Elmas and it seems the Italians have been their main source of talent.
