Newcastle United are preparing an offer for Brazilian starlet Matheus Franca who is attracting attention from all over the world.
As per the Brazilian publication Globo Report, Newcastle are negotiating a deal with Flamengo for the transfer of Matheus Franca. The 18-year-old is the centre of attraction following his breakthrough season with the Brazilian club.
Franca is relatively new to the senior setup but has already won two titles – Copa do Brasil and Copa Libertadores to start the proceedings. The teenager is believed to be Flamengo’s most high-value asset since Vinicius Junior who has now established his authority for Real Madrid.
Franca is tipped to be the next big thing in Brazilian football and the Magpies have taken the first step to secure his services. The youngster extended his stay for a further five years last January and the Brazilian side also included a release clause to make sure they get the right amount if the player is to leave in near future.
Newcastle have earlier shown their intention they will be ready to spend the amount if they can find the right profile and Eddie Howe insisted there will be room for new players at St James’ Park.
“We would love another transfer like (Bruno Guimaraes) because I thought it was transformational for the team and for the group.
“They are difficult players to find but that’s our job to try and find them and we will endeavour to do that.
‘I am not pretending to watch players, I am watching them, with a view to signing them. I am not acting that out when I am alone at home!”
Newcastle have been flying high and the manager believes transitional signings like Franca could help them to restore their glory. They have also been linked with a move for James Maddison but given their interest in Franca, they would not pursue the English international if they manage to grab him.
It is suggested a move is possible and the Premier League giants could definitely work out a deal lower than their asking price next month.
