Newcastle United make their move for Mykhaylo Mudryk

Newcastle United have set their sights on Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk who has emerged as a priority target for Arsenal.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are planning a surprise swoop for Ukrainian star Mykhaylo Mudryk. The youngster has been a revelation in the European circuit and is destined for a big move next summer.

The Ukrainian international has already set up a certain standard by consistently churning out performances on the pitch and has looked to be one of the most promising youngsters.

The Gunners have maintained their position at the top of the Premier League but Mikel Arteta has been dealt a severe blow as Gabriel Jesus is likely to be on the sidelines at least for a couple of months.

They are hunting for a replacement for the Brazilian and the Shakhtar man could resolve his problem. The 21-year-old has been utilized on the left flank but he is more direct in the approach and can guarantee goals.

Shakhtar have signalled they will be ready to do business but there will be a hefty price for it. Mudryk’s price tag could exceed the £50 million barrier and a deal in January could be very difficult.

Newcastle had a pretty busy summer bringing in several players but manager Eddie Howe feels they are still far from the desired level and will be needing more attacking reinforcements.

They will get the funds next month and at least one high-profile signing is expected to arrive at the club. Arsenal’s interest could turn Mudryk’s head as he also admitted his adulation for the club.

The Magpies will still be hoping to secure a deal and if the Gunners take time to initiate steps they might lose the young prospect. The wide man came through the Shakhtar youth setup and the club is set for a windfall should the deal go through.

Mudryk has a contract till 2026 and his club will be in no rush to extend his stay. Newcastle have exceeded expectations this season and their current project could be able to attract big names in near future.
