Newcastle United are believed to be interested in Fiorentina right-back Dodo as they keep searching for reinforcements in the transfer market.
According to Caught Offside, Newcastle United are keeping a tab on Fiorentina defender Dodo as they might ponder a swoop for the young Brazilian in near future. The 24-year-old has been pretty impressive for the Italian club in his first season on Italian soil which caught the attention of the Magpies.
Newcastle have defied the odds and have fought toe to toe with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal this term. They bettered their last season’s performance and have already breached the top four in the Premier League.
But Eddie Howe is not completely satisfied with his squad strength and wants to bring in some cover for some very important positions. Kieran Trippier has been the preferred choice for the Toons on the right side of the defence and they also have Emil Krafth and Javier Manquillo under their folds.
Perhaps the manager wants a more readymade solution at his disposal and hence he is running around in search of a proper right back. Dodo only joined Fiorentina from Shakhtar Donetsk this summer and took a few big strides to be the number one choice at the Italian club.
A move in January would deem impossible as Fiorentina would want to have the player under their folds for at least a full season. He won’t cost a fortune and Newcastle do have their plan in place to cope with any signing.
Dodo happens to share the same agent with Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and it could further smoothen the process if a deal could be reached between the two clubs.
Howe is looking to string up a squad for the future and Dodo’s tender age could give him a huge uplift. La Viola splashed to the tune of £12.5 million and would be hoping to gain a sufficient profit by letting the player leave his current club.
Newcastle’s wealthy owner will likely bankroll a couple of transfer windows as they are rebuilding the club from the scratch since their much-hyped takeover.
