Leeds United are set to open talks with Torino to acquire the service of Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic.

As per Calciomercato, Leeds United have expressed their interest in Torino midfielder Sasa Lukic. The Premier League outfit are ready to take their interest to the next level.

Having managed to give the relegation zone a skip, Leeds manager Jesse Marsch is hoping to build on the momentum. But the American tactician has some pressing issues to address.

The Whites brought in Tyler Adams and Marc Roca in the summer, and they have built a pretty robust partnership in the heart of the midfield. But the need for an extra pair of feet has arisen as Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich’s futures are in severe doubt.

Forshaw is ready to take up a fresh challenge in the summer, while Klich does not seem to be in the plan for the long term at Elland Road as it seems. Lukic also has emerged as a key player for Serbia as he will be participating in the World Cup for his country.

Torino’s director of football has already made it clear they would be looking to raise to the tune of £13 million by selling the player and the price is not negotiable. AS Roma are also keeping tabs on the player. But the price might be too much for them and Leeds might have an advantage in the race.

Lukic does have a contract till 2024, and he is very keen to experience a new chapter in his career. The 26-year-old can play anywhere in the centre of the park, and Torino must decide whether they want to sell the player in January or their chances of getting a good price for the player will deteriorate.

Leeds could offer him a much better wage and the lure of playing in the Premier League could be too hard to reject. It remains to be seen whether Roma try to counter their offer as Jose Mourinho will be using all the possible resources at his disposal to get a deal done for the highly-rated midfielder. Other midfielders, like George Hall, are also on their radar.
