Manchester United are keeping tabs on the progress of 18-year-old Sporting CP winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and could try to bring him to England.
Ed Aarons has told Give Me Sport that Manchester United are interested in a deal for Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and could raid Sporting CP to snatch the talented youngster from their grasp. The 18-year-old has been on the radar of a number of big European clubs.
Despite spending upwards of £200 million in the summer, goals have not come easily as Manchester United have struggled to convert their chances. Erik ten Hag has been chasing a serious goal poacher, and thus agreeing to a deal for the 18-year-old does not fit their criteria.
But Manchester United are famous for producing homegrown talents year after year, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku could follow suit. The likes of Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo have had very little game time. But the management has ensured their development is on the right path by handing them loan moves since their arrival at Old Trafford.
‘Issahaku joined Sporting CP’s academy back in April this year and burst onto the first team scene through his rapid progress. He has not made the headlines yet, but there is promise in his game, and the Red Devils want to utilise his potential.
The Ghanaian attacking sensation is unlikely to get a first-team place and will have to go through a rigorous training process. And he will only start getting minutes under his belt if he fits in the mould of Erik ten Hag.
The 18-year-old winger has already made it to the senior Ghana team and has earned 12 caps for his country. He could have an unlikely audition in front of Manchester United stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot in Group H as Ghana are poised to face Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

His contract reportedly has a hefty release clause, but Manchester United will negotiate on their terms should a deal be agreed upon. The Red Devils have assembled quite an envious attacking contingent so far and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku’s arrival would send a strong statement to their rivals.
