Manchester United in contract talks with Alejandro Garnacho

Manchester United are planning to reward 18-year-old attacking sensation Alejandro Garnacho with a new deal to extend his association with the club.

According to eminent journalist Fabrizio Romano, talks are progressing over a new long-term contract for Alejandro Garnacho, heralded pretty highly at Manchester United. The 18-year-old attacking sensation has developed into a more mature player this campaign and the renewal could be his first step towards further glory.

The 18-year-old earned his first Manchester United start against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League on Thursday. He did not disappoint at all as he took on defenders on his own and got past his marker a number of times with his silky-smooth dribbling skills.

The teenage sensation was expected to be introduced more thoroughly as he is deemed to be the next big thing emerging out of the famed Manchester United academy. But Erik ten Hag waited a bit to provide Garnacho with a chance. And the Manchester United manager recently insisted the player was not ready and only earned his game time by showing a better attitude prior to the game.

“I think it was a good performance from him. He did what I expected him to do. First, he deserved a chance for the last weeks. The start was difficult for him in the season. I was not happy with him, but in the last weeks I was happy with him, a better attitude, more resilience, more determination.”

Garnacho has a contract with Manchester United till 2025. But the Red Devils’ hierarchy is now planning to offer him fresh terms with better wages to fend off interest from other interested parties. Reports in the summer had linked the 18-year-old with Real Madrid.

The youngster has hit a different kind of magnitude this year, climbing through a series of successes in his brief football career. Garnacho was a central figure as Manchester United lifted the FA Youth Cup. The teenage attacking sensation was also called up to the Argentina senior squad this year.

He has also been training with the Manchester United first team for quite a while and is one of the luckiest young players in the world who already has felt the allegiance of both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo altogether so early in his professional career. It will be interesting to see if Garnacho commits his future to Manchester United.
