Liverpool eye a deal for Turkish winger Yunus Akgun, with the highly-rated Galatasaray star potentially available for €15 million.
According to Empire of the Kop, Liverpool could be interested in signing Yunus Akgun from Galatasaray in the next phase. Whether that is in January or next summer remains unknown. Nonetheless, the highly-rated Turkish winger could be another addition to their forward line.
Liverpool have recently been smart about their recruitment, particularly during Jurgen Klopp’s reign. The Reds may have some alarming areas of their squad with ageing players, but none in the forward line.
Klopp refreshed the forward line with the January arrival of Luis Diaz and summer signing Darwin Nunez. He signed Diogo Jota from Wolves before that, as those three have reduced the average age in the final third.
They have faced plenty of criticism for their performances this season, but Liverpool remains an attractive proposition for many players. Klopp wants to continue re-building the attacking setup in the next windows as the club eyes a move for the €15 million-rated Turkish attacker.
The 22-year-old Turkish attacker is highly rated by many and swiftly fell on the Reds’ radar. Akgun is a right winger by trade and firmly believes he would suit Klopp’s style. Turkish journalist Yakub Cinar had glowing words of praise for the Galatasaray star.
He said, “He is one of the greatest talents that Turkish football has grown in recent years. He is very smart and reflects this intelligence in his football. He can play on the right wing and is number 10.
“His last shot is as good as Michael Owen. The man can pull off and is a very technical football player.”
That comparison to Owen and his right-winger profile makes Akgun an exciting player. He reportedly could be made available for €15 million. He is not the only player Klopp has set his sights on. The likes of Alex Baena of Villarreal is also of interest.
Furthermore, Liverpool remain linked with Jeremy Doku. Hence, it’s clear the club are actively searching for a wide attacker in the market. Akgun’s name has been mentioned before, but the links could get intense as we approach the next transfer window.
For now, Liverpool could stick to watching the talent and keeping tabs on him. He will certainly be a good addition and can replace Mohamed Salah in the future.
