Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged the Red Devils to make a move for Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham.
As quoted by Daily Mirror, Rio Ferdinand has urged Premier League giants Manchester United to make their move for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
The 19-year-old is an established player for both Dortmund and England. Despite his young age, Bellingham has shown himself capable of rubbing shoulders with the best in the world and has a bright future ahead of him in the game.
Bellingham continues to rack up one impressive performance after another for the Germans and has been linked with a move away next summer. Despite several clubs retaining an interest in his services, Rio Ferdinand believes Man United will do well to land the player for themselves.
Ferdinand took to Instagram to commemorate Bellingham’s performance and tagged Manchester United in it. It cannot get any clearer that he is keen for the Red Devils to move for the midfielder.
His comments come after Bellingham put in another man-of-the-man performance for Dortmund, this time in the UEFA Champions League. Bellingham did not just become the youngest Englishman to captain a side in the competition but also led from the front in a 4-1 rout against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
Ferdinand was also plenty effusive about the Englishman during his coverage of the match on BT Sports. The Red Devils legend has played alongside some of the best midfielders in the game for both club and country. He clearly knows a thing or two about what makes a player special.
“He’s the full package and mentally, this kid’s a beast. No doubts about that. One thing you have to say about him, whoever gets him, one question that won’t have to be answered is the temperament.”
Manchester United will, however, face competition from Liverpool and Real Madrid. The former have been long-term admirers of the Englishman and are in need of a midfield revamp. He could potentially form the central piece of Jurgen Klopp’s rebuild. And there are a few better managers out there who can help Bellingham reach his potential.
Real Madrid being who they are is always seen as the final destination for most players. Los Blancos already have Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni. With Luka Modric and Toni Kroos getting older, signing Bellingham will see Real Madrid put together their midfield three for the next decade.
It is unlikely that Manchester United will be out of the race for Bellingham. They came close to landing him while he was at Birmingham and certainly have an idea of just how special the player is. But it will take more than an Instagram post by Ferdinand for them to overtake Liverpool and Real Madrid in the transfer race.
