Liverpool keen on signing Enzo Fernandez

Liverpool are reportedly considering 21-year-old Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez as an alternative to Jude Bellingham.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jurgen Klopp has set his sights on bringing in a midfielder and Enzo Fernandez tops his list. The German gaffer has been searching for top-notch talent and Fernandez ticks all the boxes.

Despite being pretty well stocked in the midfield department, the demand for a new face at Liverpool is not surprising as the existing players have not performed their duties with sheer precision.

Thiago Alcantara’s recurring injury issues have been a thorn in Liverpool’s way, while the likes of Curtis Jones and Naby Keita have not elevated them to the desired level.

Liverpool have been tipped to make a move for Jude Bellingham next summer, but the English international won’t come cheap, and there would be some serious reservations regarding his price.

According to reports, the player is valued to the tune of £130 million, and there will be severe competition for his signature. Manchester City and Real Madrid are the primary suitors, while Manchester United and Chelsea could also be in for the youngster.

Given the complicated situation, Liverpool have opted to ring in some alternative options, and Enzo Fernandez seems to have won the race as he stands at the forefront of Klopp’s priority targets.

Liverpool have not had a good start to their current campaign, and they are already nine points behind table toppers Arsenal with a game in hand. They need to make up the adequate grounds, and Klopp thinks he might need an extra pair of feet in the middle of the pitch.

Liverpool did sign Arthur from Juventus on the deadline day, but the Brazilian’s stint has been termed as a rather temporary one. Fernandez also does have a significant release clause in his contract, but both the clubs can mediate a price like they did for Darwin Nunez this summer.

Nunez arrived at a much cheaper price than his quoted release clause, and Liverpool believed they will again replicate the stance in this case. The 21-year-old Argentine midfielder is capable of balancing both defence and attacking antics simultaneously. And should he arrive at Anfield it would be a win-win situation for both the club.
