Matej Kovar set for summer loan exit

Manchester United eyeing Evanilson swoop.

Manchester United goalkeeper Matej Kovar is expected to be loaned out before the transfer window closes.

According to a report from the Sun, the 22-year-old shot-stopper is keen on playing regular first-team football and Sunderland are looking to secure his services on a temporary deal until the end of the season.

Kovar was on loan at Burton last season and he managed to impress thoroughly. Prior to that, he was on loan at Swindon. He will be hoping to continue his development with regular football at Sunderland this season.

It will be interesting to see whether the Black Cats can secure his services before the window closes now.

Kovar needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and he cannot risk stagnating his development by sitting on the bench at Old Trafford all season.

Manchester United have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent weeks with the likes of Kevin Trapp and Martin Dubravka some of the prominent names linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Although Trapp has ruled out a move to the Premier League and he has decided to stay put in the Bundesliga, Dubravka is believed to be interested in the switch and he has already pleaded with Newcastle to let him leave.

The 33-year-old Slovakian goalkeeper is expected to join Manchester United on loan and it remains to be seen whether all parties can finalise the move before the transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, Kovar is unlikely to get any first-team opportunities at Old Trafford this season and therefore a loan move would be best for him. The Red Devils decided to part ways with Dean Henderson earlier because of similar reasons and they won’t be able to provide Kovar with opportunities at the Theatre of Dreams either.

A successful loan spell with Sunderland this season could help the 22-year-old secure a big move elsewhere next summer and sort out his long-term future. It is fair to assume that he won’t be dislodging David de Gea as the club’s undisputed starter in the near future and therefore leaving Manchester United might end up being beneficial for him.
