Fulham are reportedly keen on bringing Sergio Reguilon to Craven Cottage, as the left-back remains interested in staying in the Premier League.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fulham have overtaken Lazio and other Italian clubs in the pursuit of Sergio Reguilon. The Cottagers are keen to sign a new full-back before the summer transfer window shuts, with the Tottenham defender reportedly willing to stay put in the Premier League.
Sergio Reguilon will be hoping to find a resolution regarding his future before the transfer deadline. The left-back finds himself out in the cold, having been booted out of Antonio Conte’s plans at Tottenham. The Spaniard was left behind for Tottenham’s pre-season tour, which was a clear indication, but he is yet to find a new club.
Interest has been rife in the Spaniard from Italian clubs, with Atalanta reportedly keen earlier. There were a few rumours of a prospective swap deal involving a player from the Serie A club, but in recent days, Lazio seemed to have made a concrete proposal for the full-back.
Reguilon is reluctant to move out of England and would prefer to stay in the Premier League. Fulham have thus emerged as contenders for the Spanish full-back, with Marco Silva reportedly keen on bringing in the Tottenham defender.
The Cottagers have been looking for a new left-back, and the manager has prioritised such a signing before the window shuts. Layvin Kurzawa is reportedly their priority target, but Fulham are keeping tabs on alternative targets.
Reguilon could also be considered a high-quality target, and his Premier League experience could be vital. How Fulham are looking to go about dealing with Tottenham remains to be seen, although they might look for a loan move at this stage.
Reguilon needs regular playing time under his belt in the upcoming season, something he won’t get at Tottenham due to Antonio Conte’s preference for Ryan Sessegnon and the arrival of Ivan Perisic. Moreover, the signing of Destiny Udogie more or less spells the end for the Spanish star.
Tottenham would prefer to sell him outright but could agree on a temporary move if the finances and conditions are suitable. Fulham could land a good player in Reguilon, although their pursuit of Kurzawa complicates their choices.
