Leeds United are considering a move for Raphael Guerreiro as Jesse Marsch eyes a new left-back.

According to Dean Jones on Give Me Sport, Raphael Guerreiro is a target for Leeds United, as Jesse Marsch eyes a new left-back before the window shuts. Signing the Portugal international, who is in the final year of his deal at Borussia Dortmund, would be considered a big coup for the Whites.

Leeds United have made a few significant moves in the transfer market, as Jesse Marsch got his way to design his playing squad. Despite the departures of high-profile players such as Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, the club have reinvested the money into bringing in several players to strengthen their squad.

However, Marsch still needs to add a few more players to his squad, with a new left-back considered a necessity. Junior Firpo had a poor injury record last season and is yet to feature in the ongoing campaign, forcing Marsch to use Pascal Struijk as a makeshift left-back in Leeds’ first two games.

Hence, the Whites need to bring a more established player to reinforce the position. Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro is now mentioned as a possible target, with the left-back entering the final year of his deal at Signal Iduna Park. The 56-cap Portugal international is undoubtedly a formidable option, although convincing him to join Leeds will be monumental.

Guerreiro does not have a shortage of suitors, as Manchester City considered him earlier as an alternative to Marc Cucurella. Barcelona also eyed him instead of Marcos Alonso, although they might end up signing the Chelsea outcast.

Despite that, a move away from Dortmund could be on the cards for the 28-year-old, as many other clubs may enter the fray between now and the end of the transfer window. Guerreiro, who has never played in England before, could see the interest from Leeds as an opportunity to feature in the Premier League.

Whether Leeds can convince him to switch Dortmund for Yorkshire remains to be seen. The Whites are yet to formally open talks with Dortmund over a move but could do so in the coming days as there is not much time left in the transfer window. They have other options lined up, with Kai Wagner of Philadelphia Union also on Leeds’ radars.
