Leeds United are closing in on Ismaila Sarr, with the club likely to reach an agreement for the winger with Watford in the coming days.

According to Foot Mercato, Leeds United are edging closer to signing Ismaila Sarr from Championship side Watford. An agreement is expected to be reached between the two clubs, as the Yorkshire side are finally closing in on signing their ideal replacement for Raphinha.

Ismaila Sarr was trending on social media this past weekend after a tremendous goal against West Brom from his own half in the EFL Championship. Many tend to agree that the Senegalese international is too good for the Championship, and he now looks primed to make a return to the Premier League.

Indeed, a move back to the top flight seems to be on the cards for the 24-year-old winger, with Leeds United leading the pack to bring him to Elland Road. Jesse Marsch has made plenty of signings this summer.

Leeds United have brought in vital players in many positions using the money they received for two of their top players in Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips. And while they have signed Luis Sinisterra to bolster their wide attacking slots, they still need a solid replacement for Raphinha, who was sold to Barcelona for huge fees.

Leeds have been interested in Sarr for quite some time and could soon bring the player to the club. Watford reportedly sought €35 million for their prized asset, but the report does not clarify the offer that the Premier League club have made.

Manchester United are also reportedly interested in bringing the Senegal international, although it seems Leeds have stolen the march on their rivals and could complete a move. The report suggests Leeds are inching closer to finding an agreement with Watford for Sarr.

It also insists Leeds may have to offload another player before they can sign Sarr. Jack Harrison has been attracting plenty of interest from Newcastle United, although the Whites have so far maintained that the Englishman is not for sale.

Leeds will hope to wrap up the signing as soon as possible to keep the momentum running after making a winning start to the season. Sarr will undoubtedly be an expensive signing but looks like a suitable replacement for Raphinha in Leeds’ attack.
