Crystal Palace are reportedly planning to re-sign former right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Crystal Palace are preparing an offer to re-sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United in a possible loan deal. Wan-Bissaka has failed to get going at Old Trafford since joining the club in the 2019 summer transfer window in a deal worth around £50 million.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was a highly-rated right-back when Manchester United signed him up from Crystal Palace three years ago. The 24-year-old started well and impressed many with his defensive work. In fact, he was among the best tacklers in the Premier League in his first season with Manchester United.
However, things started to take a turn for the worse from the following season. His lack of offensive contribution has been an issue, while he rarely looks good on the ball, often losing possession in promising positions. Wan-Bissaka struggles with his final delivery as well, pushing him down the pecking order at Manchester United as a result.
Diogo Dalot was preferred over him for parts of the 2021/22 season, and with the arrival of new manager Erik ten Hag, Wan-Bissaka’s chances could take a further hit at Manchester United. The Englishman does not feature extensively in the Dutch tactician’s plans going forward, and the club are prepared to offload him this summer.
Wan-Bissaka still has two years remaining on his contract with Manchester United, and Crystal Palace are considering re-signing the 24-year-old on loan this summer. Wan-Bissaka is a Crystal Palace youth product and represented them for ten years before moving on to the Red Devils.
The Eagles do not intend to include an option to buy in the loan deal as they are not sure if they can meet Manchester United’s valuation of the right-back. Across three seasons, Wan-Bissaka has made 125 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing ten assists in the process.
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries, but face competition from Chelsea for the Dutchman’s signature. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can set their sights on Dumfries if they sell Wan-Bissaka this summer.
