Swansea City interested in Harvey White

Tottenham close to securing priority option for future Johnny Cardoso deal.

Championship side Swansea City are gunning for a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur starlet Harvey White.

According to Football Insider, League One side, Swansea City are interested in Tottenham Hotspur starlet Harvey White in the ongoing 2022 summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old came through the ranks at Hotspur Way and was a regular in the club’s youth ranks. White has made two appearances for the North Londoners and spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Portsmouth. The spell at the South Coast saw him make 22 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and one assist apiece.

The youngster is highly regarded at the club and appears set for a bright future. A move to Swansea could accelerate his development and ensure his stature is elevated in Antonio Conte’s plans.

White is currently involved in Tottenham’s pre-season and the north Londoners are unsure of how to deal with his situation. Interest from several second-division and third-division clubs could change their mind and they could send the player out on loan to gain some much-needed experience.

It makes sense for Spurs to send White out on loan. The arrivals of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma have increased competition in Tottenham’s midfield, and breaking in could prove to be difficult for a 20-year-old starlet. White is better at securing regular playing time elsewhere than settling for a place on the bench.

The Tottenham starlet can play in several other positions across the board in midfield and defence and would stand to get regular game-time at Swansea. The hustle and bustle of the lower leagues could help aid the 20-year-old’s development and refine his skills in a competitive setup.

A good tackler, White is also a good reader of the game and has shown off his ability to stand out in the youth ranks. The move up to the senior level is much harder, and at 20, it is time that he discovers his upper ceiling.

Spending time out on a loan could work like a charm for the English youth international. Oliver Skipp enjoyed an excellent 2020/21 spell out on loan at Norwich City and is now in the Spurs senior squad. There is no reason why White cannot follow in his teammate’s footsteps.
