Manchester United remain interested in VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, who is keen on the prospect of joining the Red Devils.
Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has offered a fresh update on the future of Sasa Kalajdzic. The VfB Stuttgart striker has become a subject of interest from Manchester United, who have held initial talks with the player’s representatives. Although Manchester United are yet to meet Kalajdzic personally, they are exploring the possibility of snapping him up this summer.
Kalajdzic himself is intrigued by the prospect of joining Manchester United, as he is keen on taking the next step in his career this summer. The 25-year-old striker has had a successful spell at Stuttgart that has seen him become one of the most in-demand young strikers in the Bundesliga.
The Austrian international made his breakthrough in the German top-flight during the 2020/21 campaign, racking up 16 goals and six assists in the league. Although his progress was marred by injuries last season, Kalajdzic remains high on the list of several clubs due to his imposing frame and ability to sniff goalscoring opportunities.
Such qualities have made him an appealing target for Manchester United. The Red Devils are determined to add more firepower in the goalscoring department this summer following the exit of Edinson Cavani, while Cristiano Ronaldo is being subjected to a move away from Old Trafford.
Kalajdzic could be an interesting option given his status as a target man. It has been the defining quality in Erik ten Hag’s targets this summer, with the Manchester United manager also reportedly seeking a move for RB Leipzig starlet Brian Brobbey. The young Dutchman offers a similar skillset as Kalajdzic, which is indicative of Manchester United’s desire of signing a strong target man.
Although Kalajdzic does not offer much experience at the highest level and is coming on the back of a rather disappointing Bundesliga campaign with Stuttgart, the Austrian international has the physical and aerial qualities to thrive in the English top-flight. The 25-year-old is unlikely to cost a fortune either, with his current deal at Stuttgart expiring in 2023.
Manchester United have another advantage in the pursuit as his Bundesliga suitors in Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have abandoned their pursuit of Kalajdzic. It paves the way for the Premier League giants to make a move for the 25-year-old Stuttgart frontman, as he looks to make the big jump in his career.
