Manchester City are reportedly frontrunners to secure the signing of Scottish prodigy Emilio Lawrence from Everton.

According to journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have emerged as the favourites to sign 16-year-old Scottish talent Emilio Lawrence from Everton this summer.

Lawrence is a product of the Everton youth academy. The versatile attacking midfielder broke into the Toffees’ Under-18 setup in the 2020/21 season and established himself as a regular in the side during the past campaign. To date, he has scored seven goals and assisted three more in 23 games for the Under-18s.

Despite being just 16 years old, the Scottish prodigy was handed an opportunity with the Everton Under-23 setup in 2021/22, with Lawrence turning out on three occasions for the side. However, he is yet to make his senior bow for the Merseysiders.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Lawrence has shown the capability to feature out on the flanks while he has also been deployed as a centre-forward. The 16-year-old’s potential has reportedly alerted the Premier League ‘Big Six’ this summer, but Manchester City have emerged as the frontrunners to land Lawrence.

Manchester City have a world-class academy setup that has produced some eye-catching talents in recent years. Phil Foden has established himself as a mainstay in the first-team at the Etihad Stadium, while Cole Palmer is set for an increased role in the upcoming campaign. James McAtee, who is a loan target for Leeds United, is another exciting prospect coming through the ranks at Manchester City.

The reigning Premier League champions continue to be on the lookout for more additions to their youth roster with an eye for the future. They have recently scouted 19-year-old French prospect, Sekou Mara, while Pep Guardiola’s side remain in contention to sign Sana Fernandes from Sporting CP.

Manchester City have also set their sights on Everton prospect Emilio Lawrence as their next youth recruit. The update from Fabrizio Romano states that the 16-year-old has attracted the interest of the Premier League ‘Big Six’ and is expected to announce his new club soon. And, as things stand, the Cityzens are the favourites to land the 16-year-old Scottish youth international.
