Leeds United are reportedly on the verge of securing the services of RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams in a £20 million deal this summer.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United have reached an agreement to sign American defensive midfielder Tyler Adams, on the same day Kalvin Phillips officially completed his move to Manchester City. The Whites have reached an agreement over a £20 million move for the 23-year-old.
Tyler Adams moved to RB Leipzig from sister club New York Red Bull in the 2019 January transfer window. The 23-year-old immediately slotted into their starting lineup, starting eight Bundesliga matches before an adductor issue ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
The adductor issue also kept him out for the majority of his second season at the club, as he could make just 17 appearances across competitions for them. However, from the 2020/21 season, Adams has made regular appearances for the Bundesliga club, totalling 101 appearances thus far.
However, half of Adams’s Bundesliga appearances last season came from the bench, and Leipzig have reportedly been ready to sell him this summer even with three years remaining on his current contract. Leeds United emerged as a potential suitor, with Jesse Marsch seeing him as a replacement for Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips completed his move to Manchester City on Monday, July 4, signing a six-year deal with the reigning Premier League champions. The Whites have received £42 million as a transfer fee for the England international. Leeds could also lose Raphinha in the ongoing summer transfer window, which could leave them with a significant war chest for any summer incomings.
The West Yorkshire club have now reached an agreement to sign Adams in a £20 million deal. The final transfer fee includes add-ons, and Leeds have also seemingly agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old.
The USMNT midfielder has been keen on completing a move to Leeds United, where he could be a first-team regular. Adams has previously played under Marsch in New York, and the Leeds manager has been pushing for his signature.
Everton were also in the race to sign the defensive midfielder, but the Whites have now won the race to sign him from Leipzig. The USMNT international will soon arrive in England to undergo his medical and sign a long-term deal with Leeds United.
