Everton are reportedly ready to step up their pursuit of Wolves playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.
According to Football Insider, Everton are weighing up a move for Morgan Gibbs-White. The Wolverhampton Wanderers starlet has emerged as one of the most in-demand young players in England this summer, with the likes of Southampton, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest also interested in securing his services.
But it is Everton who are prepared to step up their pursuit of the young playmaker, who Wolves value at around £25 million. The Toffees are already readying a bid for the player, although they must be aware of the competition from Crystal Palace, among many other Premier League clubs.
A native of Stafford, Gibbs-White was one of the rising stars in the Championship last season, as he enjoyed a stellar campaign on loan at Sheffield United. The attacker was involved in 20 goals in just 35 league matches, playing a key role in helping the Blades qualify for the promotion playoffs.
Although Sheffield United were not able to seal a promotion to the top flight, Gibbs-White should not find it difficult to seal a move to a Premier League club. Crystal Palace, for one, have shown serious interest in the youngster as they prepare for life without Conor Gallagher.
The Eagles have built quite a reputation for promoting young talents under Patrick Vieira, making them an appealing destination for the Wolves starlet this summer. With Gallagher returning to Chelsea, the 22-year-old should not find any difficulties sealing regular game-time at Crystal Palace under the leadership of Vieira.
Everton, meanwhile, are keen on bringing in creative reinforcements after losing Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur. They have also lost Gylfi Sigurdsson and Donny van de Beek, thus accentuating the need for a new player who can offer the creative essence in the final third.
Morgan Gibbs-White can fit the bill well for Everton as he can not only offer creativity in the attacking third but also provide productivity going forward. It should make him an ideal asset to Frank Lampard’s tactical setup, as the Englishman looks to usher in a new era at Goodison Park.
Wolves, for their part, are prepared to offload Gibbs-White ahead of the new season for around £25 million. They have already targeted Swansea’s Flynn Downes as a potential replacement, though the midfielder is also courted by Crystal Palace.
