Everton are reportedly interested in bringing El Bilal Toure as a replacement for Richarlison, although the Stade Reims starlet may prove expensive.
According to Graeme Bailey on Talking Transfers Podcast, Everton are keen on signing El Bilal Toure from Stade de Reims in the ongoing summer transfer window. The versatile Malian attacker is earmarked to replace new Tottenham signing Richarlison, although, at £20 million, the forward could be deemed expensive by the Toffees.
Frank Lampard’s plans for next season have already been hampered by Everton’s inability to activate their transfer plans. In addition, the club’s hands are tied by financial troubles, as there is a dire need to balance the books before spending on new players.
Everton limped their way to safety from relegation, and one player who played a major role in their survival has already departed. Richarlison recently joined Tottenham in a deal worth around £60 million, leaving behind a massive void for Lampard to fill.
The Toffees boss is reportedly working with the Everton board on solutions and is eyeing a few players as potential replacements for the Brazilian. Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn is linked with a move, although the Dutchman could end up joining Ajax, who are pushing to sign him.
Elsewhere, there are links to Keane Lewis-Potter, with Hull City likely to demand a fee between £15-20 million for the 21-year-old. There’s significant competition for the young English attacker. However, his lack of top-flight experience could pose a big problem for Everton.
Now, there is a new player on Everton’s list, with Reims’ El Bilal Toure reportedly being considered by the club. The Malian forward’s versatility and potential have not gone unnoticed, as few clubs have cast admiring glances towards the 20-year-old.
Reims are happy to sell the attacker if they are to receive £20 million from his sale. It is quite steep for a player who has played 60 times in Ligue 1 so far. In the last campaign, Toure played 21 times in the league, scoring just twice.
Considering those numbers, Reims’ asking price seems quite steep. Everton, who already are embroiled in financial difficulties, may find it hard to stump up around £20 million for an unproven talent. In any case, the Toffees will likely continue their search for a viable replacement for Richarlison.
Toure has two years left on his contract, and this window could be the best time for Reims to cash in if the prospects of the forward signing a new contract are slim. If the player is available for a significantly lower price, Everton might consider approaching the French side.
