Getafe have reportedly made an enquiry for Real Madrid icon Marcelo, who has already rejected overtures from Real Valladolid and Turkey.

According to Relevo, exit-bound Real Madrid superstar Marcelo is attracting interest from fellow Madrilenian outfit Getafe, who have enquired about the veteran defender. The 34-year-old has already turned down approaches from Real Valladolid and clubs in Turkey as he wishes to stay close to the Spanish capital.

Marcelo’s time at Real Madrid will come to an end on June 30 when he will depart the club as a free agent upon the expiry of his contract. The Merengues legend bid goodbye to the club in an emotional farewell event that was organised for him earlier this month and is now on the lookout for his next challenge.

Marcelo joined Real Madrid in January 2007 from Fluminense and has attained cult status at the Santiago Bernabeu. The left-back made 544 appearances for the reigning Spanish and European champions, scoring 34 and assisting 104 goals.

One of the most successful footballers, Marcelo will leave the club after winning six La Liga titles and five UEFA Champions League crowns, along with numerous other domestic and continental honours.

With Marcelo set to become available as a free agent imminently, there is no shortage of interest in his services. Real Valladolid have expressed an interest in the veteran Brazilian, while Italian giants AC Milan are also reported to have made a contract offer for the 34-year-old defender.

However, according to the report from Relevo, Milan are not interested in signing Marcelo and have not made any offer. It further states that the left-bak wishes to stay in the Madrilenian region, which has led to him rejecting proposals from Real Valladolid and some clubs from Turkey this summer.

Now, Getafe have emerged as a possible option for Marcelo. The Azulones have reportedly made an enquiry for the 34-year-old left-back and are being considered as a potential destination by the departing Real Madrid legend.

Marcelo is not the only Real Madrid star Getafe are interested in, with the club also keeping tabs on Mariano Diaz, who has informed Los Blancos that he wishes to depart this summer. It will be interesting to see if Getafe sign either of the two stars in the coming days.
